Masum, I was so thrilled to read your first blog from South Africa and to read your story about Gandhi's train incident and the beginnings of the Indian independence movement. Did you know, though, that a subsequent powerful stimulus for Gandhi's insistence on non-violence (satyagraha) later in his campaign came from the women demonstrating for the vote in England in 1906? I'll be writing about this in my next blog on "Clio Talks Back".
