Seeing Shadow Agrandir >
I traced myself and from this drawing created a pattern that I then knitted in jute. Knitting is something I learned from my grandmother as a child and that I rediscovered recently as I have been working with imagery based on my childhood memories. Thinking about these times helped me bring back the memory of how to knit.
Like Peter Pan who lost his shadow and had to have it sew back on I also suffer from reluctance to growing up and so knitting my own image, my own shadow, was to me a way of honoring myself as a child. The eyes were added to reflect my body as a source for knowledge. There is one thing to know something with your mind, but a very different thing knowing something with your body – your whole self.
