The Right to fight Female Genital Mutilation

FGM has been a thorny issue in my country and unfortunately always seems to take a back seat when politics and power take precedence. We await the day our news editors will bombard the electronic and print media of news where FGM killed one more girl rather than which politician was seen fighting with which mogul. Its a sad state of affairs that in this century this old cultural practise is widely practised by certain communities in my country. The practise is equally highly rampant but always never given enough negative exposure and positive education for its end as people choose to bury their heads in the sand and speak in hushed tones as it is a taboo subject. Its time FGM was eradicated and fought vigorously through campaigns. The same measure given to political campaigns should be used to address the erosion of this demeaning practise that most African women are still being subjected to.

Hi

Agreed upon what you said and feel.

Let me know if you need any graphic help for your struggle against the cruel practice.

As I do not work anything for free I will charge a smile on your face.

In solidarity,
Mitesh

I am so sorry to hear about this brutality

Wow...I am so sorry to hear about FGM happening in Kenya, and any where! This is outrageous! Women need to unite around the world to take a stand, and be a voice against this barbaric practice against young women and girls!

If we can be of any help, please let me know. Denise dmountenay@shaw.ca
