Orlonda Uffre is an artist, teacher and activist whose career spans thirty years. In the 1970s she helped found the Women's Interart Center, one of the first women's art centers in the world. Over the years, she has served as curator and juror for multiple arts and culture organizations including the Vida Gallery of the Women's Building and the Sargent Johnson Gallery, both in San Francisco, California.

In March of 2009, her painting Now & Then was featured in I.M.O.W.'s online project "Exhibiting You." The painting of her grandmother, a former slave from the Caribbean, inspired Masha Rotfeld, an intern at the I.M.O.W., to interview the artist and find out more about her revolutionary feminist background and her art that is rooted in the Caribbean culture and religion.
