Sobre mí

I'm a visual artist. Born in a small town in California. I have created many paintings on women; three murals on different cultures, and digital images relating to spirituality and sexuality as it relates to the Holy Book's attitudes towards women, homosexuality, and war.
Studied at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, received a Master of Arts Degree from California State University, Fresno. I was a visiting Artist for three years at University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. Taught in their Studies Abroad Program in Cortona, Italy. Taught at the Instituto Allende in Mexico one summer, and at various colleges in California. Have exhibited my work at various galleries, museums, and universities in this country as well as at the University of Calgary in Canada, during their Symposium on Tolerance, in Italy, and in the Azores Islands, during their Year of the Woman.

Muestra cambiada por:

Through painting and digital imaging and in images of myth and reality..on themes of sexuality and spirituality...I examine more fully what it is to be a woman in a world of absolutes and contradictions.

Me apasiona:

I grew up in a small "Christian" town where discrimination, bias, and prejudice was rampant. My art work is a vehicle for examining the truths and lies that have governed my life experiences.

The International Violence Against Women Act

The International Violence Against Women Act

The International Violence Against Women Act (I-VAWA) is a historic and unprecedented effort of the U.S. government to take leadership in establishing an overall and integrated approach to respond and address violence against women and girls internationally. The Act establishes a Coordinator to Combat Violence Against Women Internationally. The time is now to capitalize on this awareness and support and to enact this comprehensive vision to address the problem of violence against women.

de Su exhibición:

Throughout my long career as an artist, I have concentrated on portraying, by using different art media, my life experiences. As a result, my art is an ongoing narrative and a self-portrait that attempts to reconcile the absolute and contradictory forces that have influenced and governed my life.

de Su exhibición:

When God Was a Woman is part of my Lost in Translation Series where I question and dialogue with the writers of the three Holy Books--the Old and New Testament and the Qur'an--regarding war, women, and homosexuality.
