Maria Ezcurra Lucotti was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1973. Due to the military dictatorship, she left in 1978 with her family to Mexico. She attended the Visual Arts School (ENAP) in the National Autonomic University of Mexico. She received a master’s degree in visual arts at the Chelsea School of Art in London, and continued with her schooling for two more years at the San Francisco Art Institute. She received a Fulbright scholarship and obtained a master’s of fine arts degree specializing in new genre. She has participated in over 45 group and 6 individual exhibits in Australia, the United States, England, Puerto Rico and Mexico; she has also exhibited publicly on the streets of Mexico City, London and San Francisco. She has taught courses at different universities and, since 2001, she has been a full-time teacher in the Autonomic University of Morelos Sculpture Workshop.

Muchas mujeres en México se dedican al trabajo doméstico. A algunas les pagan como amas de llaves, pero muchas pasan horas realizando los quehaceres diarios, cuidando a los hijos y realizando otras tareas en el hogar sin recibir dinero o incluso reconocimiento a cambio. Aunque sus aportes suelen ser ignorados, ellas mantienen la economía mexicana en funcionamiento. María Ezcurra explora sus contribuciones con sus obras "El ama de casa perfecta", "Camarera" y "Mitología doméstica".
