(This special feature from Mexican Artist Gabriela Leon is presented in conjunction with Focusing on Latin America, a project of Economica: Women and the Global Economy.) Gabriela Leon performs an unusual public service in her performance piece, "Public Notary." Working from a portable desk, Leon notarizes documents that serve as a rememberance of the human rights laid out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In doing so, Leon fights to remind politicians, government officials, and the everyday worker of the human rights that women are entitled to.
