I'm a visual artist whose aesthetic references originate from the African-Caribbean diaspora.

I exhibit change in the constant reexamining of the paradigms that give context to my art and how I reassess them. My latest paintings are incorporating the references to Caribbean visual culture, from the spiritual and religious histories that have aesthetic traditions based in the African Diaspora.
I'm passionate about justice, peace
and the need for historical veracity. With regard to the intersection of art and spirituality, it is important to remember and validate the stories of artist, whose contributions to history and culture, would otherwise be forgotten.

This painting is an allegory for slavery in the Caribbean and the life that we live today as a result of slavery and colonialism. It alludes to the African diaspora and, in particular, my maternal grandmother, who was a servant in bondage.
The woman sits and gazes. Her particular position offers her a view of the future--lights, traffic, complexity. But she does not belong there and she does not desire to belong. She is alienated from the world that is antithetical to who she is and what her spirit represents.
