About Me:Virginia Chevez was born in Mexico City on May 27, 1961. She graduated from Graphic Design Communication at UAM, Xochimilco in Mexico City (1987-91) For some months, she participated at Ignacio Salazar’s Production Workshop in ENAP (Plastic Arts National School) where she attended drawing workshops as well. (1991-92) Her solo exhibition in 1991, Momento Dual (Dual Moment) at Centro de Cultura Reyes Heroles in Coyoacan, Mexico City is the first of the 14 solo exhibitions she has had until now. Her last exhibition, Lotus Mantra was in 2007 and took place in Casa Lamm. Her next exhibition, Inscripción de lo sagrado (Inscription of the Sacred) will take place in Casa Lamm on February 11, 2009. She has had more than 20 colective artshows in Mexico and other countries such as Switzerland, U.S.A. and Canada. Her work is part of numerous particular collections. She recieved the Jovenes Creadores grant from 1995 to 1996, and recieved an Honourable Mention in the II Nutricion biennial in 1997. She now lives and works in Mexico City.
