I am a mom with 2 grown kids. I am a devoted advocate for and philanthropist to women's causes, human rights issues, the arts, and political campaigns. I am a member of many women’s organizations dedicated to bringing women together globally and educating and empowering them.

In the summer of 2003, twenty female musicians from Algeria, France and Argentina gathered in a recording studio in Paris, France. Their mission: to overturn Algeria's Family Code -- a set of laws that, for over 20 years, has relegated women to second-class citizenship. Their instrument: a song.

In 2007, the Global Democracy Day Initiative, an organization devoted to creating an International Day of Democracy, staged a competition for youth around the world to illustrate what democracy means to them. The three entries chosen as winners explore different applications of democracy from gender equality in the home to the importance of individual participation.
