About me:

Greetings IMOW community! The Independent Television Service (ITVS) welcomes the IMOW community to explore and benefit from our free media resources for educators and non-profit organizations.

Women's Empowerment Media Resources:

ITVS Community Classroom recently launched our Women's Empowerment resources, which include eight short form video modules that explore stories of women's leadership and empowerment in Bolivia, Egypt, Israel and Kenya. Like all of our Classroom resources, these video modules are accompanied by standards-based lesson plans and activities that are FREE tools for educators as well as community organizations and NGOs working on international development, education, women's empowerment and human rights.

These resources are available for download at:

We look forward to connecting with others in the IMOW community soon!

Exhibit change by:

At ITVS, we exhibit and catalyze change through the power of documentary film.

ITVS was formed by historic mandate of the US Congress in 1991 to champion independently produced programs that take creative risks, spark public dialogue and serve underserved audiences.

I'm passionate about:

ITVS is passionate about using film as a tool and resource for social change and empowering women.

Our recently released Women's Empowerment resources tell stories akin to those of women in 'Economica' and can be used as a tool with a variety of audiences.

From Economica:

The Independent Television Service (ITVS) was created by the U.S. Congress more than 18 years ago to bring underrepresented voices to public television. ITVS is now global - funding independent producers from the U.S. and around the world to tell authentic stories from communities rarely seen in mainstream media. The Women's Empowerment Collection is a free resource for educators, NGOs and community organizations that features four films about remarkable women from Bolivia, Kenya, Israel and Egypt. The film modules come with lesson plans and activities to spark further conversation and investigation, and connect viewers more deeply to the issues in the films.
