About me:
Girls’ Club Entertainment, LLC was founded by Jennifer Siebel Newsom as an umbrella entertainment company to develop and produce independent films with strong social, political and cultural significance, focused primarily on empowering women. We are currently developing a documentary film about why women are under-represented in positions of power and influence in entertainment and politics, and what we can do about it. These two influential systems offer us a lens into the wider issues of institutionalized inequality in every industry, and a transformation within these two spheres would lay a foundation for real change throughout our society.

Raising awareness about social issues, promoting gender equity in all spheres and industries, and inspiring action for social change.

Increasing the presence of women in spheres of power and influence; equitable pay; dismantling institutionalized inequality; strengthening the gender equity movement.

We at Girls’ Club Entertainment are currently developing a documentary about women’s under-representation in entertainment and politics in the United States, and what we can do about it. In our research, we have found plenty of data to prove that there are very few women in elected office in the U.S. and that few women hold influential positions in the American media. In the face of these dramatic statistics, our central question is—why? We hope the I.M.O.W. community will help us explore this question further.
